Brief Description:  Rudder cables

Using drawings that I had, I drilled several holes in the keel for the adel clamp that hold the control cable and the return springs. I seemed odd that the rudder control bar did not have the required holes for the springs. Turns out that there ways a newer version of the drawing and it dropped the rubber springs concept. So I made an unnecessary hole in the keel.

This errror is entirely mine. I should have printed out all the most current drawings and replace the hard copies months ago. I took several hours comparing the drawing with the PDF files and buring the newest drawing to a compact disk for printing.

One of the most time consuming thing to trying to locate the parts that the drawing call out. I could not find the derin spacers for limiting the travel of the rudder to 15 degree each side. So I purchase nylon spacers from Home Depot that were 3/8" instead of the called out 1/2". Close enough.

When installing the rudder limits, the vertical tail need a slot carved out for the limit bolt to align with of hole already in the rudder control bar. Using a dremel tool with a drum sander, I made the grooves and then painted them.

The right turnbuckle came apart during the swagging of the nicopress fittings and I could not made it turn freely. Both the barrel and the tongues were brass and something was not right. Later I tried to force the turnbucket to much and the tongue twisted ruining the part. I order another turnbucket assembly from Aircraft Spruce, and their's has steel tongues which pleases me.
