While training with Ron Menzie, it was clear the brakes were ineffective for two reasons: First the cable adjustments ran out of authority and the brake levers were too short. I shorten the brake cables after tying the MLG brake levers in the fully engaged position. My new brake lever extension is a parking brake from a datsun pickup truck. To hold the brake lever in the 'locked' position, I mounted a block of metal, tapped for a 1/4-28 bolt that I can position against the instrument pod. Works great!
