Brief Description:  Purchased Graphite Bandsaw Blade Guides

When using a 90 degree miter jig to make bandsaw cuts in a few pieces of scrap wood I observed that the blade would wander off creating an angled cut. I discovered that the blade guides were plastic with tips that were rounded. Not only were they incapable of holding the blade square to the cut but they would also wear (melt) quickly.

Aparently this design is the only one available from Delta or any other OE tool supplier. I knew that older models used a graphite design so after some web searching I found an aftermarket set from eBay seller "meticulousmike". They were fairly priced (not cheap though) so I purchased a set of the 1/4" size which were shipped promtly. Each of the 4 "blocks" were longer than required for my model so I used a hack saw to cut each one in half; now I have 2 full sets.

I subsequently installed these with each set (upper and lower) making light contact on the blade. The blade is now much better constrained and is capable of making miter cuts that follow true to the angle presented. Am anxious to try this out on my first form blocks!
