Met up with fellow 650 builder Jeff Peters at the sign shop where he works to pick up a sheet of 0.016" and to check out the tools he has at his disposal for manufacturing parts. After telling me some stories of his recent trip to a Zenith workshop in Missouri we somehow got on the topic of form blocks. This resulted in us spending a couple of hours inputting coordinate data into a graphics software program which we then turned into adhesive-backed vinyl templates by using a cutting tip in the special plotter.
We were unable to determine the X-ordinate datum for the lightening holes so we just assumed they were referenced from the same X=0 location from which all of the other coordinates are based. However, I contacted Caleb at ZAC the next day who indicated that it is actullaly located at the lower right corner of the form block which is 33.8mm right of X=0. So, I will use the paper plot that I had made from the ch601.org DWG files a few months ago to locate the proper centers. These templates will make quick work of form blocking.
