The flaps require two 4x12 sheets of 6061 and my left-overs were not large enough. Was going to purchase from Trident as usual but soon discovered that they, along with every of other supplier in Houston was out of anything less than 0.032". So, I was faced with going to ZAC, Aircraft Spruce, Wicks or some other non-local supply. The price of aluminum is relatively high right now and adding freight would bring the cost up to about double what I paid last time.
I had previously met another local builder - Jeff Peters - who I knew had purchased a large quantity of aluminum when he started his project but who had also not been active in his build as of late. I called him and asked if he had any "surplus" that he could spare to which he graciously obliged. Picked up two sheets on my way home at a very fair price.
