Brief Description:  Primed Skin

Cleaned interior of skin with Simple Green and 3M pad followed with a thorough rinse.

Placed tape over rivet holes on outside of skin to prevent bleed-through then primed rivet lines with Rustoleum Clean Metal Primer - with a brush from a can this time.

I just read a post from Ron Lendon on the CorvairCraft blog that included a quote that he has posted in his workshop: "Better is the Enemy of DONE" which pretty much applies to this excercise of coming up with my skin layout. I rationalize this somewhat inefficient use of time by the fact that I'm fully prepared to take 10+ years to complete this project as I'm "only" 47 and would like it to last into retirement, else I'll have to start another build :-). Also, I would like my log to serve as a supplement to ZAC's drawings, the assembly guide and other builders' logs so that folks comtemplating a scratch build project will have one more resource to encourage them to get started without being intimidated. I have gained invaluable insight from the logs of Ron Lendon and Larry Winger, so I'm trying to do my part to contribute to the knowledge base of Zodiac build processes.

That's my "new" 2003 F250 Powerstroke work truck in the background. It's a work vehicle that was too good of a deal to pass up. My wife calls it my big boy truck and I couldn't agree more. Driving around in a big deisel sure is fun.
