Brief Description:  Front Spar and Doublers

First part of day spent creating rear spar upper and lower doublers.

After tuning angles and measuring edge lengths of the front spar doublers I felt like adding a bit more precision so I measured off another set of the 5HD's and scored cut lines. This time instead of using Olfa knife to finish the bend-cuts I cut along the score lines with the pneumatic shears (added a 5mm center section for waste material). Even after following the scores as close as possible the cuts turned out to be somewhat wavy and jagged. So, I'll be using the original set. Time well spent learning the limitations of this tool. Suspect it will be good for roughing out blanks but never for finish work.

Cut a 118mm X 2200mm blank from 0.032" for the 6T1-3 Front Spar using Olfa and snips. Used a 17.5mm sight line to create flange bends in the brake. In addition to the 1/8" steel bend plate I also had to use a couple lengths of 1/2" OSB and 1/4" HDF as bend-aids along the length to achieve desired angle; as verified by an angle gage preset to 84 degrees (the supplementary angle to the 96 degree specified).
