Brief Description:  Deburred right flap and smoothed the edges

I devoted the entire night in the shop to deburring the flap spar and all of the flap ribs and skins (top and bottom skins). I also took special care to smooth the edges of all of the parts. Before, I have just run the edges of parts through the scotchbrite wheel, but tonight, I used sand paper to remove all of the bumps and ridges from the edges which come from the metal shear which made them. Then, I used scotchbrite pads to smooth the sanded edges. I was pleased with the results. This method gave me smoother edges than I have gotten just using the scotchbrite wheel in the drill press. I don't know if I could have used this method for all of the wing ribs, because it would have taken forever. For tonight, however, it was worth the effort. After all of the deburring of holes and smoothing of edges, I used scotchbrite pads to scuff the interior surfaces so that it will have some "tooth" to make the self etching primer stick better. I scuff the surfaces before dimpling them, because it is tougher to scuff them afterwards, especially in the small depressions in the aluminum made with the dimples. You don't dimple the bottom of the flap spar, however. That row of rivets gets countersunk so that the hinge can be riveted on without countersinking or dimpling. I will prime the parts when I get back in town on Sunday. Vicki and I are going to Calaway Gardens on Friday night and all day Saturday to see the Annual Baloon Festival. It should be fun.
