Before I started in the shop tonight we had some visitors. Julia Torbert from my Sunday School class came over with her son, Samuel. Samuel was facinated with the shop and spent some stick time on my old project, the Nieuport 11 fuselage. If you look carefully in the back of the photo, you will see me lifting the tail so that Samuel can have the full motion simulation. Later, I riveted the front skin of the left flap. The bottom row of rivets was not nearly as dicey as some have led me to believe. Then, I riveted the flap actuator arm together on the flap spar. The plans tell you to rivet the end ribs last, but you really have to rivet the inboard rib before you rivet the flap arm onto the spar, or else you will never be able to get to the rivets to buck them. The last few rivets near the trailing edge were too close to buck, so I used pull rivets instead. Next, I will rivet the skins to the spar and will also rivet on the flap hinge.
