Started the day realizing that the braided lines I had, were not the ones I though I had. I thought they were brake lines down the main gear. They were not.
These should be pretty easy to make out of 1/4 aluminum tubing with the right flare fittings. I needed 4 flare, 1/4 compression fittings. Tried the auto part stores and HD. Wasted the morning looking.
Finally decided to go ahead with the allignment of the main gear fairings. Used the string method with the help of a laser (CHEATING).
Used a plumb bob to establish a centerline. Chalked it on the floor. Glad I used the string method. Eyeballing the fairings, I had the tailing edges of each off each off by more than 1/2 inch.
Shaped main gear wheel pants with a detail sander. Didn't take to long. Cleco'ed both together.
So far, so good. Tomorrow, I'll start working on getting the wheel pants on the wheel brackets.
