Cutting and shaping the rods - no real challenge - they look like the pictures.
I went to tap the treads. Remarkably, I had a 6-32 die in my tap and die kit. Started to tap the first rod end - could not get the die to catch and start cutting. Tried it on a piece of scrap rod, after tapering the end. The die finally caught, but the threads it cut were horrible. This is a new Kobalt die set from Lowes.
It is my third Kobalt hand tool failure on first usage - terrible.
Scrambled to find a replacement 6-32 die. Amazon was two day delivery. I found a small dewalt set at HD, for $24 - not too bad.
Brought home the dewalt and it cut like a champ.
All of the fabrication work on the baffles is now complete. I am going to take them apart and spray them with heat resistant white paint - reinstall, and then - on to the oil cooler.
