Brief Description:  Interior Paint

This covers the last few days.

I got the pilot's NACA air vent installed, along with the aluminum eyeball vent. I'm happy they close up completely, and I think they came out fairly well.

My epoxy paint for the interior of the plane arrived. It's Rustoleum VK9300 2K Epoxy Primer Spray in Grey. It's intended for touchups on welded steel frame members during construction, so it's pretty tough. The result is very clean, very light, and very tough. It should last very well, but if I want to touch it up somewhere down the road I can pick up a single rattle-can of the stuff. So that's nice.

A couple of notes for anyone looking to use this paint. First, it's a binary epoxy spray, so ventilation! Very important! Second, it comes out in very very fine droplets. This means that overspray that lands on masking tape or paper will dry into a crazy fine dust. You will be using wet towls to wipe everything up. Third. the surface finish isn't the world's greatest. It only orange-peeled in two places, but a lot of the surface was rough. After the paint dried I went around with a microfiber cloth and a fine grit foam sanding block. Rub the microfiber cloth, and if it catches on the finish, hit it with the foam block. Wipe up the dust with the microfiber. Wash rinse repeat until the whole thing is nice and smooth. It didn't take long, and the epoxy is very definitely strong enough to hold up to the sanding.

There are black rubber trim bumpers separating the flooring texture from the walls. These should act as scuff plates for passenger shoes. I also put in grey Trim-Lok edge trim on the exposed vertical bulkheads at F4 and F5. It looks cleaner and less likely to scratch someone getting in wearing shorts.

Left to do on the inside are a couple of things. I need to reattach the throttle handle, removed so that the front port armrest could come off. I also still have kydex trim pieces to glue in at F4 and F7. I need to put rubber gasketing around the control sticks. And I'd like to put some
