Brief Description: Finish oil door, more cowl work
Early this morning, I shot one last coat of primer on the oil door and another coat of hi-temp white on the inside. I lightly went over the upper cowl one more time with #150 sandpaper, then wiped down the cowl with acetone. I mixed up some resin and thinned with a 50/50 mix of acetone. I brushed this on the cowling, then used a credit card to squeegee to a thin coat. Next, I used a 4” nappy roller and ran it all over the cowl to remove any of the squeegee marks. Hopefully this will reduce some sanding so that the thin coat of glass doesn’t disappear! Tomorrow I’ll very lighty sand and repeat the resin/acetone application. This afternoon after the primer and paint was dry on the oil door, I squeezed in the 8 rivets that attach the two latches to the door. I’m calling the door done and done.
