Today I connected the wires that run from the EMS to the shunt. Dynon recommends either a 1 amp fuse or a 26 gauge wire as fusable link. Well, couldn’t find any 26 ga. so I used a couple of inline fuses. I crimped on terminals for the shunt connection and butt spliced the fuse holders to the wires going back to the EMS. While over on the left side, I replaced all elastic nuts with metal ones. Next, I began wiring on the left mag. I used the Aeroelectric method to create a “poor man’s” solder joint, covered with shrink tubing and installed. I also added an inline resistor to the p-lead pickoff per Dynon’s instructions. I added an adel clamp to the ground terminal on the mag to secure the wire run. Tomorrow I’ll connect the right mag, then both mags back to the switches. It appears I’m getting close to finishing up wiring on the firewall side.
Shunt wired to in-line fuses
Hmm, looks like I soldered the wire to the alligator clip!
