Next extra thing to build is the strut or shock absorber that will lift up the canopy. These are similar to the struts on your SUV rear window. They are car parts. You can tell because you use a drill size "F" for the big hole and then tap it. The letter drill sizes are common in the auto industry.
First I made the aft bracket which includes a couple spacers. Careful cutting because the kit doesn't include much extra material.
Then I drilled the forward blocks. Since they are thick I drilled them on the drill press.
