Brief Description:  Remove Wing 9: Trim Spar Webs

Another thing noticed during the wing mating was that the holes thru the wing spars seem to have the webs mis aligned with the holes. I noticed the threads of the bolts scrap on these webs and the webs move out when I try to push the bolts in. And I don't really feel the snug accurate fit I should be fealing with precision bolts.

So after talking with my brother Ed, who said he saw a post and not from Van's that it is okay to slightly trim the web of the bolt holes, NOT THE HOLE IN THE SPAR, I decided I would try a couple.

So I used a little sanding drum and trimmed back just the lip of the web around the large bolt holes on the wing spar. Amazing. With just a littl triming the bolt including threads now goes thru the hole smoothly and I can feel the snug fit. I was getting very tired of these bolts hanging up on in the holes, and it appears to be caused by mis-aligned webs.
