Next is building the 706 bulkhead. First I read the plans and drawings to understand all the parts and how they go together. There is just no substitute for doing this mental exercise. At first I'mconfused as to what parts I need and how they fit together. But after reading the plans and studying the drawings I soon get the complete mental image of the assembly to be made.
First I collect all the parts and raw materials from my inventory. I measure stuff to make sure I've got the right parts and materials. I deburred the edges, fluted the sideframes a bit to try and make them straighter and bent the flange so they are perpendicular.
Per plan I enlarged several holes to 5/8 and one to 7/16 for snap bushings for pitot, cable and wire. I use step drills to enlarge the holes. I debur these holes with the little swivel knife debur tool.
