Brief Description: Flaps - Pulled blind rivets spar to ribs
After riveting the ribs to the skin I cut the hinge to length and clecoed the spar in place. First rivets are the pulled rivets between spar and ribs. It was difficult to get the rivet gun under the top skin. You can see my method was to use a block of wood to push it up just enough to get the rivet gun under it. The block keeps from pinching or wrinkling, or denting the skin. Then on the inboard rib the holes are tight against the doubler flanges. So I lifted the rivet gun up with a few washers and nuts. Then I made a little pipe from some steel brake line to lift the rivet gun. I put a washer under it to spread the force over the rivet head. This worked fine. I tried some other methods that didn't work (see next page).
