Brief Description: Tail Installation for Final Time 1
I'm going to completely install the tail at home and take it to the airport as part of the fuselage. It will just barely fit out of my garage door if I life the nose a little.
I decided I wanted to make the rudder cable links first. I installed the horizontal stabilizer and the vertical fin and final the rudder. Then I attached the cables to the rudder. Then I clamped the pedals together. I wanted to make sure both sides of links should be the same length. Yes they should and of course they should since the cables are the same length.
I experiemented with some scrap aluminum and tried different lengths by sitting in the pilot seat and seeing how it feels to have the pedals at different distances. I borrowed cushions off the coach to simulate a seat.
I decided 2 inch links would be good. Per drawing they are made out of steal. I had to hunt for my piece of steel but found it. It was rusty. So I polished it up.
I cut four identical pieces with holes 2 inches apart.
