Brief Description: Tank Assy - Leak Test Right Tank
I tested the right tank for leaks. i used the balloon method per the directions that come with Van's leak test kit. I liked the balloon method because the balloon is the safety valve which prevents over inflating. I used fuel lube on everything. I closed the gas cap, the vent line, the fuel intake line and put the valve stem in the drain hole. I used a plastic tie wrap with fuel lube to hold the balloon on the fuel return line. I applied air "slowly" using regular air from my compressor. I was afraid it might go to fast, but it didn't. As soon as you add enough air to each 1 atmosphere the balloon begins to fill. So I just supplied air in 1 second shots. The balloon stayed inflated and I feared a slow leak. I sprayed soapy water on all the seems and rivets and no obvious leaks. The balloon deflated over an 8 hour period. So I feared a super slow leak. But it was only the duct tape letting air out of the gas cap. So I think this tank is good. No leaks.
