Brief Description:  Tank Assy - Stiffeners 1

I started assembling the tank today. First is riveting the stiffeners with Pro Seal. So I read a bunch of websites about this tank riveting process. My brother Ed at www.mykitlog.com/thelynns has a very good description of handling Proseal. First I went shopping and got all the stuff needed for the job. Then I thoroughly cleaned the skins and stiffeners with degreaser, etcher and MEK. Then I put all the stiffeners in order so I didn't get confused about which one goes where. I soaked the rivets in Proseal and used tweezers to pick them up. I put all the 3.5 rivets in and taped them. I mixed up about 70+7 grams of Proseal. It was much harder than I thought. Very thick stuff. I put tape on the skin to control making a mess. Then I applied Proseal to the stiffener, rather than to the skin and placed the stiffener on the rivets. I back riveted all the stiffeners in place. I put little globs of Proseal on all the rivets, and scraped a little filet around all of them. Then I cleaned up the mess, took off all the tape and cleaned up the flush head side of the rivets.
