Brief Description:  Brakes... they work!

For some reason, I just couldn't wait to get the brakes working... I guess it's such a major component, milestone or something.

Using a pressurized system, I pushed "Aeroshell Fluid 41" into the line, and hooked an overflow bottle into one caliper. I let it keep flowing out into the overflow bottle until no more bubbles were present. I closed that bleed nipple and went and did the same at the caliper on the other wheel.

This process took 30 minutes, but thanks to pressurized brake bleeding system I got from Aircraft Spruce (part #06-00120), it all worked perfectly, including the parking brake. I couldn't believe how tight it held the plane in place with the brakes on... I could not make it move an inch.

I will say that although it worked perfect the first time, I made a mistake and had to do it a second time. When I squeezed the brake handle after putting it back in place in front of the throttle, the plunger stayed stuck down in the cylinder. My first thought was that there was too much presure in the system, so I opened a bleeder and let a little bit out. Then the brakes didn't work at all, and the cylinder was still stuck. What had happened is, attaching back to the throttle mount, I screwed the allen bolts back in so tightly, it deformed the cylinder. Loosening the bolts just a quarter turn got it back working again.
