Brief Description:  Inventory complete, beginning anti-corrosion treat

I was pleasantly surprised by the organization and labeling of the parts in the kit. With my wife’s help, we were able to inventory every part in five hours. It seemed overwhelming in the beginning, but there’s no better way of familiarizing yourself with the kit, than to perform a complete inventory.

I began the linseed oil treatment in many of the aluminum tubes. This is not an absolute necessary step, as the inside of the tubes are anodized, but it doesn’t take that long, and should pay off in the future when used around salt water. I bought already boiled linseed oil. I’ve seen other builders boil it even further, to help it dry thicker, but I think that’s an unnecessary and possibly dangerous step with highly flammable linseed oil. I taped-up all the holes, poured a generous amount in, and let it slosh around in there for a while. I had planned on multiple treatments, but now that I see it go on, I think I’ll stick with just one thorough treatment.

UPDATE: The entire next day, 12/9, was used in cleaning that sticking linseed oil off the outside of the tubes. Only took about three hours to apply the treatment to all the tubes, but three times as long with the cleanup the next day. I wish I had placed some perpendicular wood blocks to set the tubes on to dry, so the outsides weren't laying directly on the tarp, soaking in it all night too.
