Brief Description:  Dimple worktable

After reviewing several web sites, I decided to build a work table for the Avery dimpler. The support structure is made with 1"x3"s and the wrok surface is made from 1/4" plywood. The heigth of dimpler is slightly less than the combined heigth of the 1x3s and the plywood. To get the bottom dimpler above the surface I purchased 4 feet of 3/4" aluminum extrusion. After cutting the extrusion to size I attached it 5/16" up from the bottom. This creates a support structure the dimpler can sit on. It works out the dimple die will sit about 1/16" above the work surface. The completed worksurface will sit on top of my work bench when I need it. To make sure it stays in place, I plan on clamping it to the work bench.

Added note. I used the new work surface and dimpler tool to dimple a control surface. Although the dimpling came out okay, I determined the solution I used with the aluminum extrusion for a support structure will not work with repeated usage. Tomorrow I plan on taking this apart and cutting the support structure to the correct heigth. This will eliminate the need for the aluminum support structure and provide a better solution long term.
