Brief Description: Attaching the wheel brake mounts, tire fairing mou
Rich Donnelly helped me install the wheel brake mounts and tire fairing mount plates to the main axles. The Van's drawings don't make real sense, so it took some comparing and think-through, but it worked.
However, we discovered a MAJOR discrepancy in the Van's plans. The Van's drawings and builders manual show us techniques for installing Cleveland brakes and wheels, and the tire fairing mount plate (the large piece of grey-primed aluminum) is designed for that.
However, this kit came with Matco brakes and wheels. In image 3, you can see the wheel brake mount's two large brass oriface fittings (left side of the moung...that's the aft side). When I test-fit the brake caliper assembly through those two holes, the tire fairing mount plate interfered with he caliper. I needed to grind some aluminum off the bottom surface. You'll see that in the next log entry.
