Brief Description: Drilling the canopy frame hinge brackets
With the canopy frame held down in place and aligned (as much as possible), I drilled through the nylon blocks into the hinge brackets. I stepped up to the proper diamater, then pressed brass bushings into the holes to snug-fit the hinge pins. I also remounted new hinge pins (modified clevis bolts) to ensure the pins fully engage with the release handle in the 'closed' position.
Finally, I modified the canopy hinge pin release handle. Rather than keeping the original design with a lever arm and the long handle extending forward through the sub-panel to the instrument panel, I shortened the release handle and mounted it directly out the bottom. I didn't want this T-handle taking up real estate on the instrument panel, especially since I doubt I'll remove the canopy more than once every 5 years. See image 3.
