Acid Wash and Prime the vert stab skins and skeleton. Sorry I didn't catch all this on 'film', but it's the same process that I showed during the horizontal stabilizer build. This time, though, I found some chromed steel clothes hangers that are perfect for hanging parts to dry. First I acid-etched the parts and helped it with a scotchbrite pad scuff. While the parts dried, I clamped the plastic drop sheet from the trusses with hand clamps, then opened the sliding garage door for ventilation. With the parts sitting atop the steel shelf rack (chromed...COSTCO rocks!), I rolled the shelf and parts onto the drop cloth and sprayed. I then immediately used the clothes hangers to hang the parts to dry from nails in the rafters.
I'll give them a week to dry as I travel to Eglin AFB for a week-long inspection. Things to do next weekend: - Assemble and rivet the primed vert stab. - Build cradles for my Quick-build fuselage and wings. - Make final arrrangements for my good friend Kent Stitt to take delivery of the QB fuselage and wings while I go to Texas for Christmas leave.
