Brief Description:  Wing Prep

I started off by trying to leak test the fuel tank. Van's suggests that everything be sealed up and you shoot air in the vent tube...the problem is that you wouldn't know how much pressure you had in there and there' s enough surface are to do some damage at just a few PSI. So one hole is used to pump air in and the other is attached a ballon, the theory is that the baloon will burst before you would have done any damage to the tank. As I started blowing it up one of the "fresh" corners started to hiss. I think the sealant is not hard enough yet since it's been so cold in the shop. I mixed up some sealant to resealed the corner then I brought the tank inside for a little R&R where it's nice and warm. I'll try again in a few days to and see how it goes.

My goal is to drill every last hole possible before priming. When I start doing the final prep I don't want to do anything else. The instructions have you prep and prime in batches then final rivet some parts together and so forth. I read ahead in the instructions and decided to go ahead and match drill the flap and aileron seals, and the flap attach brackets. Then I countersunk the spar where the dimpled skin will mate up and shot a little self etching primer. Then I deburred, dimpled and attached the nutplates to the attach plate between the tank and leading edge.
