Brief Description:  Tank Sealing

Went in fresh today and started sealing and final riveting ribs. Wasn't sure how long it would take so I just decided to try to get three ribs done, which worked out perfect. I spot cleaned the area and ribs with MEK one last time. Mixed up 100 g of sealant...that was perfect for the riveting, then I mixed up 50 g more to do the fillets, and rivet heads...that worked out to be about 10 or 20 g too much. Anyway I got three ribs done, messy, messy, messy...set up and cleanup is at least 1/4 to 1/3 of the total time, the rivet gun, bucking bar and about 20 clecos were covered. MEK, although hazardous and flamable, works great. A partner would have really helped..bucking and shooting the nose ribs by myself takes a bit of reaching...I really thought I was going to have to drill one rivet ou,t which for a -3 rivet is hard enough but in a nose rib with sealant everywhere would have been a dreadful task. Turned out that it had only slipped up and it went back down with a bit of tapping. They all set fine and and hopefully sealed...cross your fingers and say..no leaks. No way to be pretty with sealant...just get it on there.
