Today I finished deburring, dimpling and breaking the edges of the rudder parts preparing them for assembly. Once i was satisfied with the fit and finish of the parts I gave each one a thin coat of chromate. Later I began back riveting the stiffeners to the skins.
After much deliberation I have decided to only prime smaller parts ( ribs, stiffeners, brackets, etc) and where the alclad coating has been comprimised ( rivet lines, file marks, scotch-brite marks, etc). The majority of the skin surfaces will not be primed.
