Brief Description:  No fuel pressure

When the aircraft would not start 9again!), I checked the gauges. There was almost no fuel pressure. I tried removing the fuel pumps from the feed of the gascolator, and put ai pcressure in the stbd tank. With the fuel selector on that tank, no fuel exited the gascolator.

I tried taking the gascolator off, and restored the pressure at the tank. There was still nothing. I tried pressure from the hose at the pumps (disconnected) to the gascolator. The air blew readiily through this part of the plumbing.

I tried getting a fuel sample through the quick drain: nothing came out! I tried disconnecting the quick disconnect I'd previously added at the outlet of the tank, just inside the fuselage. Fuel flowed.

All this tolkd me that:

1) The quick drain was clogged, and
2) There was a second clog somewhere in the fuel selector area.

I removed the quick drain, and drained the fuel. The quick drain had little metal in it, and a lot of what appeared to be cork. I cleaned it out; verfified its functionality, and re-installed it.

It was going to be necerssary to pull the center panel, remnove the holes, and probably clean the fuel selector. I decided, since I was going to pul the center panel, I might as well pull the CDI power leads back through to the area behind the instrument panel, since this would need to be done.

I pulled the panel and the leads, and disconnected the fuel hoses from the selector. Placing pressurized air on the hose from the port tank, the stbd tank, and the hose to the gascolator, all produced free flow of air.

I removed the fuel selector from the panel, and cleaned it in an ultrasonic varsol bath. Afterwared, air flowed freely though it when the appropriate selection was made.
