Brief Description:  Installed starter and engine ground

No starter came with the engine, so I decided to use the Sky-Tec C12ST2/S, based on cost and weight tradeoffs. Installation was done, using the Continental IPB, page 2-21, and Sky-Tec furnished installation data.

When I built the aft fuselage section, I had installed a ground cable from the battery/external cable ground, and ran it to the engine compartment.

1. Cut ground cable and starter cable to length with pneumatic cutoff wheel.
2. Lugged #4 cables with #4 lugs.
3. Installed ground cable on bolt mounting starter to engine.
4. Installed gasket.
5. Mounted starter to crankcase, using flat washers, star washers, and a plain nut.
6. Torqued nuts per Continental limits table.
7. Installed starter cable on lug provided, and torqued per standard limits table.

Note: The bolts connecting the upper starter case to the engine have not yet been installed.
