Although they weren't as visible, I was equally dissatisified with the safties on the aileron turnbuckles. I replaced them as well. This meant removing 6ZU4-1 and 6ZU4-2.
After removal, 6ZU4-1 (aileron control stop) was in particularly poor condition. I fabricated a replacedment part from 6061-T6, and primed it. I then reinstalled the two pieces.
