Brief Description: Click Bond Dome Sealed Nutplates
The Wing Tanks' Inspection Cover's Nutplate Ring with Click Bond Domed Head Sealed Nutplates CN610ACR08P. I used Click Bond’s Epoxy Structural Adhesive CB359-50 to secure them and the tank sealant to cover. This was as advised by the technician at Click Bond. Yes, he also has built an RV8 just like the rest of the world.
The Ring has been secured with Tank Sealant. The cover has a sign saying 'Insert All Screws Before Tightening'. I fear there is a slight risk that tightening only one inserted screw might cause the Ring to rotate and break the Tank Sealant.
The extra depth of the DH Nutplates requires a longer round headed screws. However, later these were replaced with NAS1352-08H12P screws with drilled heads; this allows the screws to be lock wired (see ‘Wing Tanks 12/01/2011). Much of this extra hardware has been purchased from LAS; the parts carry the usual ‘Certificate of Conformity’.
