Two jigs were made to support and position the Tungsten bucking bar for riveting the bottom shins. The jigs were most important for accurate riveting as the bottom wing skins were riveted without a helper and setting of the bucking bar was done blind. The bottom spar was covered with a towel or foam as an extra precaution.
The small tungsten bucking bar that was recommended by a friend, John Brady, was just the job. Two pieces of spruce where taped either side of the business end and a fishing line was taped on for attaching to the wrist in case the bar slipped and dented the spar. The spruce strips allowed the blind lining up of the bar on the rivet, and gave some help in not overdriving the shop head. The torch was covered in neoprim to stop damage to the skin or spar.
