Brief Description:  Electrical - Cockpit Area

Spread over three days I have slowly made some headway in understanding how the Wiring Harness is terminated at the 'field devices', figuring out how the wire stripper and the standard crimper work and making some connections. I am using an 'automatic' stripper that pulls the insulation off the wire after the cut and a ratcheting crimper, both as recommended on the net and in the book I bought from the EAA (Aircraft Wiring Guide by Marc Ausman).
In Chapter 39 I got through the Cabin Heater, the Main Gear Actuators & Micro-Switches and the Fuel Tank Sender.
The first photo shows some of the documentation I am following: the Searey manual, the Searey Canada wire list, the Searey Canada harness plan and a Mode Electroncs parts catalog.
The second photo shows my first terminations, at the Cabin Heater, hooray! The third photo shows the roughed in wiring layout and terminations for the Main Gear Actuators, Relays and Microswitches, plus additional documentation for the Wiring Harness Installation and the 2085 Gear Relay Interface Board Installation. So much information to digest!
In addition to the Standard Crimper I have a D-Sub Crimper which I need to figure how to use. I am hoping it will also work for the Molex connectors and the odd-ball connectors that power up the Trim and Flap Actuators and the Main Gear Actuators.
As much as possible I am using nylon, as opposed to vinyl, insulated terminals (Female, Male, Ring, Spade, etc) as I am told they are of better quality... certainly more expensive.
