Brief Description:  Identification plate installation

CARS requires an identification plate to be afixed to the plane where it can easily be seen by someone getting into the plane. I chose to not follow the manual for the location (on the tail boom near the pilot side horizontal stabilizer) to be sure that I met the Canadian requirement.

A SS plate was provided by Transport Canada when I registered for the final inspection. I used it instead of the American one that came with the kit and another that I got from EAA, once again to make sure that I was a compliant Canadian.

I had a local engraving shop do the work. The guy was a little hesitant at first because he wasn't sure that he could do a good job on the SS material. But it turned out just fine. The first photo, showing the engraved identification plate mounted on the forward edge of the pylon on the pilot's side, was included in my application submittal to register the plane.

The second photo is of the completed plane with ID plate mounted and is required for the "Initial Application for a Special Certificate of Airworthiness for Amateur-Built Aircraft". This application is required to be available for the inspector at the final inspection.
