Brief Description:  Sponsoon mount channel damage repair

On one or two occassions I managed to drop the co-pilot side wing assembly. I didn't notice at the time but that is when the starboard sponsoon (float) mount channel must have been bent.
So today I removed the float and the channel, beat the channel with a soft mallet back into a straight line, and re-mounted the float.
As the piece is made of aluminum it bended relatively easily, first out of line, and then back into line. I don't think it is likely that the channel will fracture in the middle in the future, but if it does it would likely do so between the two AN4-20A bolts and not break away.
Nevertheless I will contact Progressive Aerodyne (now in receivership?) to see if I can order a replacement part. Failing that I could always try to find a piece of similar aluminum channel and make up my own part.
