So I did the following: -verified the wiring of the ignition switch and found a missing ground wire -realized that I had never installed a small diode on the starter solenoid as required by the ignition switch manufacturer and then installed it -figured out using the Dynon manual and the on-screen menus how to get the EMS red warning light to display above the right corner of the display -went through the Power Buss installation and start-up manual and successfully got an annunciation of "Test OK" when pushing the red square light/switch above the Dynon display -checked the wiring from the ignition switch to the two electronic ignition modules on the engine -checked the wiring from the engine's generator to the rectifier including the rpm counter wire and a related ground
Since I was now getting desperate I started doubting things done in the rebuild shop, such as the spark plug gaps. Per the Rotax manual MML 12-20-00 these should be 0.031" to 0.035". Mine were less than 0.025", so I opened them up to 0.034" or so. I felt queasy doing this as I was now changing things the rebuilt shop had done, but...
