Following Rotax SI-912-016 I purchased a case of 12 one litre bottles of AeroShell Oil Sport Plus 4 from Aircraft Spruce. The oil tank fill amount is 3 litres but seeing as this oil is not something you buy at the local gas station I bought big. For the first fill I put in an extra 0.5 litres to allow for the oil purging procedure to follow. Why this simple procedure took me 3.5 hours I don't remember as I am writing this log book entry up a couple of weeks later and a lot of water (not oil, thankfully) has flowed under the bridge since, fogging my memory. Perhaps I was planning and gathering the extra stuff required for the purging, I don't remember. But the oil fill went smoothly and no leaks were detected (SPOILER ALERT: this changed quickly when I later turned the prop).
