Brief Description:  Choke Plate & Cables

Everything takes so long... then you have to do it again... long, long, long... will this ever end? OK, so over two days I installed the Windshield Support Plate (aka Choke Plate) which sits in the cockpit over the pilot's head and contains the Choke lever and the Cockpit Floodlight. According to the manual there is a template to help you drill all the holes in the Windshield Support Cover... well maybe in the PA factory there is. Not in my kit. Anyway, onto installing the Choke Brackets into the Choke Mount which the manual specifies undrilled bolts for... why? these are rotating joints... so after following the manual first, I went back the next day and replaced the undrilled bolts with drilled bolts and castle nuts. I ignored the instruction to install a switch in the Windshield Support Plate as I think this switch is for the Cabin Floodlight (is it?) and for that I have a switch on the Flight Deck (dashboard). When I put the Turtle Deck arches in place some months ago I didn't notch the corners as specified in the new manual for allowing the Choke Cables to pass through... so now I had to, which involved a lot of time removing the two aluminum and one wooden arch on each side (3 bolts each), notching the aluminum pieces and putting the whole thing-a-ma-jings back into place. Attaching the aft ends of the two Choke Cables to the Carburettors went well enough if you ignore the stumbling around I did trying to figure out how the Wire Swivels work, yadda, yadda, yadda. Wow, a lot of work and time for not much obvious progress.
