Brief Description: Vertical Stabilizer - final finishes
After 750 hours of labour spread over 18 months it is great to be working on an installation manual chapter that has the word 'final' in it! Even though I have another cross-coat of Poly-Spray to do, after first wet-sanding, I have decided to first move ahead with doing the 'final finishes' of the empennage items. I will then take everything apart once I know it all fits and that I have all the necessary parts, and spray the final cross-coat before re-assembling once and for all (or not, as I might do a top coat paint as well). Today I worked on the Vertical Stabilizer, adding the hinges for the Rudder, the brackets for the Horizontal Stabilizers, six supporting cables (including two for the Wings) and the FRP piece that covers the lower front portion of the Vertical Stabilizer. It is interesting to note that PA anticipated some problems matching up holes in the two aluminum Horizontal Mount Plates to the Vertical Stabilizer frame. However I found that all the pre-drilled holes in the various parts matched up perfectly and I did not have to drill any new ones.
