I ordered a Wiring Harness and a number of separate components from Searey Canada (John Dunlop) who had them fabricated by Aircraft Components, Inc. Included, in addition to all the wiring, were a Harness Support Tray, Installation Kit, Skyview network cables, engine warning LEDs, gear position LEDs, Electric Gear Relay Board, Power Buss, Gear Alert, e-Flaps controller, three aluminum Subpanels and a Cabin Light. The box was full of styro-foam peanuts that seemed endless and were crammed inside all of the wiring. Unpacking and taking inventory took two hours. Everything appears well designed and assembled.
This Wiring Harness and the Support Tray look nothing like what is installed in the 'new' Progressive Aerodyne manual Chapter 37. It refers there to a 'Panel 6' which must be PA's own Wiring Harness design. Oddly enough I had purchased my Tray Support Arms from PA, even though they don't use them, when I bought the kit originally. John Dunlop helped me figure out how to install the Support Arms by e-mail. They actually mount into the open ends of the two Cockpit Tube Lower Outboard. You take out the already installed AN4-40a bolt, put the plastic filled end of the arm in the bottom of the tube with the supplied spacer on top to fill the gap and replace the bolt. Simple... not on your life. Per Chapter 1 Section 1.2 the bolts were installed bolt head down. So with my aluminum frame long ago installed inside the FRP hull there was no way to drop the bolt low enough to get access inside the tube. So I cut the bolt head off with a Dremel and replaced the bolt, this time with the bolt head on the top side. One down, one to go. But first I have to buy some more Dremel cut-off discs as I went through my last three due to the awkward cutting position and all the other parts in the way, plus my own clumsiness.
