Brief Description:  Fuel System - Gascolator Installation

Canadian regulations require a Gascolator to be installed at the lowest point of the fuel system. I chose to install an Usher Gas 5 (Aircraft Spruce) in the 3/8" fuel line from the bottom of the Fuel Tank to the In-Line Filter. I mounted it behind the pilot seat on the forward side of the Bulkhead Cross Tube, Lower so that it would be readily accessible for maintenance and for operating the drain valve in its bottom. After flight testing I plan to route the drain up to the 2-way valve that feeds the Fuel Tank sump drain Primer Bulb so that it discharges through the thru-hull fitting.
For mounting I used two ell-shaped clips that looked forlorn lying in my parts box and didn't seem to have any other purpose. I riveted (BSPS4-44) them to the Cross tube and bolted (AN3-07A) them to the Gascolator.
Note: On 7 August 2021 I decided not to try to drain the Gascolator through the Primer Bulb.
Securing the 3/8" fuel line to the Hose Barb in the bottom of the Fuel Tank was tortuous. I cannot imagine how this would be checked or replaced once the plane is fully built. As you can see in the photo below the Hose Clamp #02 is too close to the end of the hose and I will need to get back in there and move it along a little. The problem is not just getting hands and tools in there, for me the focus length of my Mark I eyeballs is just not suited for this range, glasses on or off, and I can't see what the #$%%# I am doing. Maybe I will have to hire a hangar rat with sharp eyes, long arms and short legs to re-do this job for me.
Note: I re-did these two connections on 7 August 2021, with a lot of difficulty but successfully.
