Took a brief break from building to do some flying! Chesapeake Searey was looking for someone to help fly their Searey LSA from it's base at Baybridge Airport in Maryland to its winter roost near Tavares, Florida. Dan Wroe was my flying instructor and PIC and was a wealth of knowledge, a great companion and a calm and informative coach in the air.
We flew over the outer banks of Maryland, Virginia and the Carolinas, followed some of the Intracoastal Waterway and then flew more inland to central Florida.
A brief stop at First Flight Airport allowed for a visit to the Wright Brothers National Memorial. We overnighted in Georgetown, South Carolina on the first day and landed at the Progressive Aerodyne factory on Lake Idamere, Tavares, Florida on the second day
.
On the third day we had fun conducting "water operations" on the nearby lakes (Dora, Eustus, Griffin), lunched at the Tavares Seaplane Base and spent a couple of hours in the PA factory. Angel, Earl and Les were a wealth of detailed knowledge that will go a long way in helping me with building my Searey LSX. Bill, Adam and Kerry graciously gave of their time in welcoming us.
