Brief Description:  Paint scheme initial ideas

Early on in the build I started thinking about the paint scheme that "Spirit of Mackenzie" will wear. My first idea was to honour one of British Columbia's founding airlines, Queen Charlottes Airlines, which operated an ecletic seaplane fleet of Supermarine Stranraers, Wacos, Norsemen, Dragon Rapides, Stinsons and finally Catalinas (Cansos) over 50 years ago. I found a company in England that sold me a set of decals for a scale model 'Strannie' (The Flying Shithouse) and that was the first idea to go up on the hangar wall.
Next idea was to capitalize on the Spirit's namesake and use the town's colours of white, blue, yellow and green. Nice palette but no graphics came to mind except some squiggles symbolizing the mountains, with blue and green for lakes and forests, yadda, yadda, yadda...
Thinking ahead to 2017 when the Spirit will be fully functioning and flying (knock on wood) I have now homed in on the graphics and colour palette of "Canada 150". This is our national program to celebrate the Great White North's 150th year since Confederation in 1867. Could be a spectacular livery as well as meaningful. Stay tuned.
