Brief Description:  Flaps - Fabric

Over three days Steve and I dropped into the hangar for half hour sessions during lunch hour and after work to put the fabric on the second flap. We spent some time trying to figure out where the annoying and unsighthly brown marks were originating from when we ironed the edges. Was it the coating off the iron itself interacting with the Poly-Tak contact cement? We thought this was a possibility as when we tried to clean the iron this coating came off the iron a bit. Was it lumps of Poly-Tak 'carmelizing' from too much heat? Maybe. We never did figure it out but since the brown spots were dry and flakey they rubbed off easily enough and we moved on. However, we have changed our procedure to be careful not to have as much Poly-Tak where it was not needed and to be sure to use no more than 225F when ironing the glued areas.
