Brief Description:  Mounting Cargo Panel

As a bit of a diversion from the major task of assembling wing frames I thought I would tackle the cargo panel install. Because I have the 'new' Fuel Tank I had to follow some 'new' instructions sent by PA labelled 'Chapter 5 Fuel Tank Assembly - Section 5.5 Mounting Cargo Panel'. It should be a fairly simple process but the instructions are somewhat contradictory and confusing. Here is what I learned:
The piece of plywood that you are working on is the LEFT Baggage Deck #5340-029 as described on page 2, but thereafter called Right by mistake (I hope!). But since the drawing on page 2/7 is showing the bottom of it you might be confused as I was at the start and reluctant to cut anything.
On page 2/7 the location of the 2.5" hole is different in the drawing than in the written instructions. I followed the written instructions and when I laid it on top of the fuel tank I thought I had got it wrong because it clashed with the filler pipe. However I quickly realized that the panel is supposed to sit 1" above the fuel tank, at which point it fits perfectly. Photo 1 shows the correct dimensions (I think).
On page 3/7 I did not make the notch for the Heater Assembly as I believe I will be doing this differently (what I don't know). The right side of the diagram shows the carpet after it is cut out. It sort of indicates that the carpet goes on the bottom side of the panel which can't be correct.
For page 4/7 I made the aluminum support pieces, one flat and one angle, out of .025" aluminum sheet metal as the parts didn't come with the kit. The 2"x4" wooden Deck Supports (page 5) did come with the kit but the Foam Supports (page 6) didn't so after laying the panel in place temporarily per Photo 2 I called it quits.
I have asked Alan Chandler at Progressive Aerodyne to comment on what I have written here, so may change it in the future.
26 Sept update: no response from PA, I decided to make the notches for the Heater Assembly
