Brief Description:  Replacing tail extension pulley axle

The assembly manual calls for an AN4-24 bolt (i.e. drilled at thread end), castle nut and cotter pin as the axle for the tail extension pulley. However, these parts were not on the inventory sheets and not supplied in the kit. Renee at PA mailed them when I asked and I installed them today. She also supplied ten AN3-11 bolts with castle nuts and cotter pins that she said I will need later. I think that PA realized that bolts used as axles should have castle nuts and cotter pins and have indicated so in the manual. However, they have not updated their inventory sheets as yet so the correct parts are not sent. I could be running into this again.

18 Feb 2015 update: Alan Chandler of PA phoned me to explain the discrepancies between the manual and what was supplied in my kit. In short the manual is for the SeaRey LSA (FAA certified) model and refers to parts not supplied in the LSX (amateur built experimental) kit. This is despite the fact that the manual has 'SeaRey LSX' on the cover and the serial number of my kit. That would be ok if I was an American, but (un)fortunately I am a Canadian and have to meet Canadian aviation regulations for amateur built kits which seem to include a lot of the FAA requirements for the certified LSA model.
