Brief Description:  Bower Ram Air - Throttle/Mixture Cable Bracket

I started the day attempting to determine the best method to fabricate a mounting bracket for the throttle and mixture cables. I also needed to educate myself on how the FM-200 controls and the throttle and mixture cables function. I even got out my throttle quadrant to validate that everything moved as anticipated.

I had to re-clock the throttle arm a bit so it wouldn't hit the mixture arm on the FM-200. I tested fitted all the cable mounting hardware to ensure that nothing hit each other. You can see from the photos, the tolerances are pretty tight.

I then fabricated a mounting bracket, that will most like attach to another set of brackets that will actually hold the mixture and throttle cables. The problem was that the brackey mount just under the elbow, which is obviously round and the two studs aren't in a straight line. It took a little creativity, but I finally got the bracket to fit. I probably put things together and took them apart at least a dozen times before I got everything right.

I started putting in the new studs yesterday, but I had to get another one that was longer. Today I put it in the right front position. Then I noticed that the stud I put in the right rear was still too short based upon the thickness of the mounting bracket I just fabricated. Fortunately, I ordered a 2" stud the other day. With the thickness of the mounting bracket and the washers I had to use to get the bracket to miss the raised portions of the elbow, the stud was just the right length.
